When it comes to wedding decor, 2025 is all about bold creativity, immersive experiences, and a much-needed return to nature. Instead of traditional aesthetics, couples are embracing elements that make their celebration feel lavish while maintaining a personal touch. From visually stunning food presentations to lush, overgrown floral installations, this year’s weddings are more than just events — they’re works of art. Read on for our latest trend report to get inspired by the year’s biggest design moments below!
Expect modern sophistication blended with wild romance, showing up as untamed floral arrangements, bold colors, and high-tech enhancements. Whether you’re drawn to a sleek, minimalist vibe or a dreamy garden setting, this year’s trends offer endless inspiration to design a one-of-a-kind wedding.
Creative Altars and Chuppahs
Ceremony spaces are no longer just an aisle and an altar; today’s couples are turning them into breathtaking focal points with creative setups that go beyond traditional designs. Think elaborate structures bursting with color in place of simple wooden arches and aisle runners.
“2025 is all about the details that take your breath away,” Erin Dabbs of Erin Ren Photography confirms. “Take the floral chuppahs, for instance. Florists are turning them into living works of art, paired with wild foliage and seasonal blooms that transform the ceremony space into something magical.”
Whether it’s a chuppah draped in wild greenery or an industrial-style arch with dramatic draping, statement pieces are on the rise as couples dare to be bold.
“This year’s weddings are all about creating immersive, photographable moments that leave guests in awe,” Dabbs assures. Like the altar in this Wes Anderson inspired wedding.
No matter your style, your altar or chuppah is the heart of your ceremony — why not make it a showstopper? Whether it’s draped in wildflowers or decked out in dreamy fabrics, this is your chance to set the scene for unforgettable I do’s.
Food Styling + Centerpieces
Food styling at weddings is undergoing a major facelift as couples opt for more artistic presentations to elevate the dining experience. Gone are the days of boring buffets and traditional plated meals — today’s weddings feature food displays that double as decor.
“Catering setups are becoming visual showstoppers now,” says Craig Peterman of Craig Peterman Photography & Videography. “Grazing tables are styled like art installations, dessert displays look like they belong in a Parisian bakery, and even the cocktail bars are getting love with custom signage and decor elements.”
On the flip side, typical decor is also turning edible. Expect “centerpieces that play double duty,” Catherine Taylor of Woodland Fields Photography predicts. “Desserts are in the centerpieces, along with fruits and bread, all overflowing and looking like integral parts of the decor.”
As you plan your wedding, treat every bite as an opportunity to showcase your creativity and enhance the culinary experience. You’ll have everyone talking about your elaborate charcuterie spreads and overflowing bread baskets!
Circular Ceremony Seating
Couples are rethinking traditional seating arrangements as ceremony-in-the-round layouts regain popularity throughout the industry. Opting for circular or spiral seating can create a more intimate and immersive experience for couples and guests alike.
“As larger weddings come back into vogue, we’re seeing that couples want their guests to be closer and feel like they can see and participate in what’s happening,” explains Vijay Goel of 440 Elm. “More open seating, especially outdoors, allows couples to use a circular or 270-degree layout approach to bring everyone closer, especially if the ceremony is anchored in a mandap, chuppah, or other structure.”
In addition to fostering a deeper connection with guests, this setup also ensures everyone has a great view as they surround the couple with love and support.
Another ceremony seating style en vogue is runway seating, where seating faces the aisle as they do for a fashion show. Cayla Cummings of Carhart Photography notes that couples are “reserving the rows along the aisle for both their immediate families as well as their wedding party, creating an entirely color-coordinated aesthetic down the aisle.”
No matter the setting, these creative layouts create a natural focal point that makes guests feel more included and puts the couple in the spotlight.
Overgrown Foliage
Untamed beauty takes center stage in 2025 as couples shift away from perfectly manicured floral arrangements in favor of lush, overgrown foliage.
“Lush greenery is still having a moment, but it’s less polished and more wild,” Peterman shares. “I’m seeing lots of asymmetry, like vines crawling up walls or draping over tables in unexpected ways. Bonus points if it’s paired with bold florals or something unexpected like pampas grass or colored branches.”
This wild, garden-inspired style can transform any space into a storybook setting with earthy textures and ethereal aesthetic. In this case, more is better!
For those planning a wedding abroad, rest assured that this trend has carried over into destination celebrations — albeit with a twist. “We’re seeing couples take inspiration from their tropical surroundings and incorporate oversized palm fronds and large installations of birds of paradise,” Jen Avey of Destination Weddings Travel Group reveals.
Perfect for those who want their wedding to feel romantic and deeply connected to nature, you can’t go wrong with wild, overgrown greenery and your favorite blooms.
Vintage and Nostalgia
Old-world romance has arrived! Expect to see ornate details like antique tableware and gilded accents that transport guests to a bygone era, like in this Tuscan wedding.
“The vintage style is growing in popularity because of TV shows such as Bridgerton,” explains Khloe Jackson of W Events. “We will see lots of vintage frames, old-worldly glassware, and classic candelabras.”
Think tinted glassware, heirloom china, and baroque details — but it’s not just decor telling the story! Attire, entertainment, and transportation are all excellent ways to add a nostalgic touch to your celebration, like a vintage getaway car or a classic string quartet.
Popular wedding colors are also shifting to favor throwback design themes, with recent color trends—like pastels, jewel tones, and earth tones—taking on an older approach.
“Retro color palettes, like dusty rose, sage, and mustard, are making a comeback,” Peterman confirms. “Couples are leaning into decor that feels like a nod to the past but still fits today’s vibe.”
Incorporating vintage elements into your wedding doesn’t mean your celebration will feel like a blast from the past (unless that’s what you’re going for!). Instead, modern design trends blend these old-school details with contemporary touches for a bash that feels as fresh as it is timeless.
Artistic Arrangements
From sculptural floral arrangements to elaborate food displays, it’s clear wedding design is taking on a more artistic shift in 2025. But couples are going even further to transform their big day into a visually stunning experience.
Jackson predicts that “artistic touches will focus on unique cake designs and elaborate draping that bring a creative flare to the classic wedding design.”
While cakes have long been a sweet way to end the evening, they’re now statement pieces featuring rich textures, abstract shapes, and unbelievable presentations.
“Naked and semi-naked cakes are on the way out,” reveals McKenzi Taylor of Cactus Collective Weddings. “Whereas those styles were minimalistic and rustic, today’s cakes are taking on a more decadent, exciting, and over-the-top feel. The larger the frosted edges, the better. People want their cake style to match their attire choices (think ruffled dresses), big floral decorations, and curvilinear reception seating setups.”
Draping
As for draping, couples are taking a “go big or go home” approach with large-scale rigging and showy textures that offer a moody theatrical vibe to the space.
“The use of over-draping in decor will be popping up more and more in 2025,” Loni Peterson of LP Creative Events confirms. “Dramatic draping can be done as wall covering to add an architectural element and on table tops bringing in additional drama.”
From framing ceremony spaces to adorning reception ceilings, draping adds a sense of movement and drama that can set the tone for the whole design.
In short, don’t be afraid to get artsy when planning your wedding! Whether you’re the Art Deco type or you prefer a more abstract style, incorporating artistic elements into your big day will make it feel like the masterpiece it is.
Bold Colors
While pastels will never entirely leave the scene, more and more couples are making a statement with bold, vibrant color palettes for their weddings. Rich hues, saturated tones, and unexpected color pairings are all bringing energy and personality to today’s celebrations — and that seems to align with a growing desire for unprecedented designs. Everyone went bananas for this colorful wedding we shared last month.
“2025 is all about individuality,” Dabbs notes. “Couples are infusing their personalities into every element, and the colors they choose tell a story all their own.”
In particular, red is stealing the spotlight in this year’s weddings. “Interior designers have been using the unexpected red theory long before it went viral on TikTok,” Taylor explains. “Red is timeless. Red creates balance in more neutral themes. Red can be smart and formal or grounded and relaxed. Red is sexy. Red is sophisticated yet splashy, too.”
Symbolizing passion, love, and celebration, red is making a dramatic comeback in wedding attire, decor, and florals. But if crimson isn’t your color, you can still make a splash with bold shades of emerald, cobalt, orange, and saffron!
Editorial Detail Styling
While the overall feel of a wedding remains a priority, 2025 events are all about digging down into the details — those small, carefully curated elements that come together for a breathtaking, editorial-worthy look.
Looking past the big-picture design, couples and their wedding teams are embracing intentional styling that feels effortless yet impeccably curated. Tabletops, in particular, are becoming a blank canvas for creativity and one-of-a-kind design combinations.
“Gone are the days of small, singular arrangements in the middle of the table,” Peterson assures. “Instead, couples bring personal items and styles to their tabletops. You will see this trend through a mix-match approach in floral vessels, plates, napkin textures and patterns, and more!”
This eclectic trend puts purpose into every element, from napkin textures to a single bloom placed just so in a tinted bud vase. Inspired by the world of editorial shoots, this detail-oriented approach to design is just another example of weddings becoming art.
Elevated AV Effects
It wouldn’t be a party without unforgettable entertainment! This year, couples are continuing the trend of using top-tier audiovisual effects to transform a basic event into a fully immersive experience. Lighting is no longer just for functionality — it’s a design element in itself, with uplighting, LED installations, and projections changing the game.
House of Joy’s Samantha Leenheer confirms that highly designed lighting is on the rise. “We are seeing design meet lighting in new ways,” she says. “There is a rise in custom and detailed lighting fixtures and chandelier shades. Designers are working to get these custom-made to bring in the exact colors and vibes of the wedding.”
Even entertainment setups are getting a stylish makeover. “A huge trend we’ll be seeing in 2025 is DJ booths matching the decor and design of the wedding,” shares Michael Coombs of Michael Coombs Entertainment. Rather than a standard black table and speakers, “you’ll see more and more DJ booths matching the aesthetic,” he says. “Rather than taking away from an event’s style, proper DJs will be enhancing it.”
Visual effects, like custom monograms, sparkler fountains, and fog machines, are also growing in popularity as couples look for ways to add excitement and appeal to the most important moments of their wedding day.
As weddings continue to evolve and meet couples’ expectations, it’s clear that the focus is on sensory experiences that immerse their guests in the celebration. Whether you’re drawn to vintage romance, modern drama, or a mix of both, don’t shy away from bold design choices and thoughtful details as you design the celebration of your dreams.
