Step into this absolute dream of a wedding. That’s right we are joined by Ingrid and Lasse who are kindly sharing their Akrasanden Norway elopement, swoon!
Their day was inspired by nature, with a ceremony overlooking the sea and wildflowers all round, their day was a delight. I adore their stunning outfits, the personal touches and of course, the picturesque setting.

Akrasanden Norway Elopement
The Proposal
He surprised me while I was playing with the dog on the sofa. Suddenly, he was on his knees with a ring in his hand.
The Vision
We wanted something that represented who we are and one of our mutual passions, nature.
Budget
180 000 NOK (Norwegian kroner)
The Ceremony & Music
The ceremony took place outdoors, on a craggy hill near the beach with a view of the wild North Sea and a summery-landscape covered in wildflowers. Our guests were scattered around on the heather-clad hills, overlooking the ocean.
My maid of honour plays the fiddle and she played “For the dancing and the dreaming” from How to Train Your Dragon 2 (animated movie) as we came up the path (together, with Lasses two adorable nieces ahead of us), and “Concerning hobbits” from the Lord of the Rings as we walked out, with all our guests in tow.
The Venue
Åkrasanden (for the ceremony) and Quality Hotel Maritim for the party.
Your Outfits
I bought my wedding dress from Needle and Thread. I’d loved their feminine and romantic look for years and I wanted an untraditional wedding dress, which I could use for other occasions. I picked one with floral details and also decided to go for a flower crown of wildflowers and a matching bouquet to signify my love for nature. The only jewelry I wore was my mother’s necklace, which I borrowed for the day.
Lasse bought his suit from a local shop in Alta, called Vaag.

The Honeymoon
We haven’t gone yet, as we’re having a baby in April – our wedding gift to each other. But hopefully we can travel to someplace in Greece next year.
The Styling & Decor
We used wildflowers (or as close as we could come) for the decorations and split them up in different shaped and coloured vases. We also handmade the place cards from a birch from Lasses father’s forest (cut, polished and branded by hand) and used seashells from the beaches in Alta that we picked as soon as the ice melted in the spring (to have a bit of the north with us).
As nature was our theme, the colours were a bit of mix to match the variations in nature.
Memorable Moments
Too many to count – it was truly a magical day and we are so grateful to everyone who made it happen. It was all perfect.
Advice For Other Couples
Don’t let the preparations and your expectations of the day turn to stress. There are plenty of ways to plan your wedding. Plan the things that need to be in place and invite the people that are important to you. The greatest memories don’t come from beautiful decorations, expensive dresses or fancy food – they come from the people you surround yourself with and the love you share and celebrate on your big day.
