Searching for a stunning and sustainable wedding dress? A graduate of the National College of Art and Design, Irish designer Olwen Bourke marries time-honoured techniques with contemporary design. Those seeking a sensational lace wedding dress will be in heaven.
With a focus on craftsmanship and sustainability, she works predominantly with vintage fabrics and handmade Irish laces and her dresses are thoughtfully designed and made in Ireland. In fact, she regularly collaborates with local lace makers to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Alongside her collections she runs a custom service too where she works one on one with each bride to create their individually tailored custom gown. Her beautiful pieces would also be perfect for a day two bash.
New Olwen Bourke Wedding Dresses:
The Olwen Bourke Mara Collection
This enthralling collection is inspired by the sea and the rugged beauty of the Irish coastline. Mara translates to ‘ocean’ in Irish and the beautiful dresses have a flows-like-water feel. The collection shines a spotlight on the island’s rich sartorial past with rare Irish lace techniques employed, such as the peek-a-boo Carrickmacross lace that adorns the Aisling dress. The Nora gown is one such breathtaking example as it is crafted from vintage handmade Limerick lace, which was a type of lace which was produced in Ireland between 1870 and 1914. You will find pretty florals in abundance, from 3D florals popping up on chic blazers and crop tops to a magical mini dappled with hand beaded flower bouquets.
