We’re sure wrapping April on a high note, Cakies, thanks to this stunning modern wedding coming to us from coveted Australian wedding vendors: planner Place of LB, floral designer Ffoliar, and photographer Petter Karlstrom. When envisioning their big day, fashion designer Sammy and her longtime love Adam were inspired by art, architecture, and 90s runways, though not at the expense of meaningful Jewish traditions. Sculptural florals and custom details brought the vision to fruition at Sydney’s contemporary art museum venue, a space where the bride’s family had celebrated her brother’s bar mitzvah thirteen years earlier.
With the bride’s style leaning more modern and refined than traditional, a drapey Loewe gown embellished in gold (with gold Chloe heels to match), made a perfect fit.
“I wanted something that matched the feel of the day but still felt like me. To soften the look we took inspiration from ’90s runways. Diane [from Koda Kutters] created a really gorgeous hair look that was sleek and polished. With Filomena [Natoli], we focused on an elevated natural face focusing on keeping my skin super glowy and fresh. They both nailed the look completely and I felt like a done up version of me!”
Bridesmaids all wore black dresses of their choosing, featuring Bec + Bridge, Ganni, Camilla & Marc, Aje, and By Nicola.
For their 90s runway inspired ceremony, they brought in a custom chartreuse carpet and modern, cream colored benches leading upto their lush chuppah brimming with greenery. Even the bride’s hair and make up were a nod to the natural yet sleek beauty trends of the 90s.
A bridal bouquet of cascading orchids added a soft romance to the modern look.
Their seating charts, three towering plinths, were works of art in themselves welcoming guests to the party.
No traditional wedding flowers here! Instead, the couple opted for hanging floral chandeliers, unconventional centerpieces piled high above the tables and draped over their sides, and gold anthurium for the menu designs.
Custom chartreuse linens gave the moody, elegant reception space a playful pop of color.
The bride explains, “Our wedding was art-led and highly considered, with a focus on refined design. We wanted every element to feel intentional and curated—elevated but never extravagant… We spent the early days researching and exploring everything from architecture and fashion to interiors and art, until we honed in on a style that felt perfectly us.”
Every detail, from the florals to the place settings and this spectacular By Gigi cake, was crafted to feel right at home at their modern art museum venue.
For her second outfit of the day, Sammy changed into a shimmering silver sequin gown by Christopher Esber.
Just gorgeous! Congratulations to Sammy and Adam!
