For anyone looking for permission to throw the wedding rulebook out the window: here it is. Marlis (from Berlin) and Luke (from New York) gathered their community from both sides of the Atlantic, inviting an unforgettable mix of New York creatives and European friends to join them for a weekend that felt more like an art project-meets-house party than a wedding. The fashion? Absolutely extraordinary. The guests showed up in everything from sharp, avant-garde suits to full-on drag queen ensembles.

“I didn’t want to be like a bride you see in wedding magazines,” said Marlis. “I wanted our wedding to be rock ‘n’ roll!” Her double bun updo, minimal make-up, and black earrings set the pared back, intentional tone. She wore a vintage dress for the ceremony, then switched to a short look for the party, finished with a pair of MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon boots.

Instead of walking down the aisle to something traditional or classical, she entered to a live rock rendition of Billy Idol’s White Wedding, performed by a local band. “I skipped all the romantic, princess bride stuff,” she explained. “No real theme. We didn’t even want to plan a wedding, we just wanted it to be a party with friends, lots of music, and great food.”

And that’s exactly what it was. Long tables were set up outside for dinner but there was no seating chart. “My only goal was to have fun,” said Marlis. “I didn’t care about décor or flowers. I wanted everyone to come for the weekend and just be together. The cake had mice on it because we own a couple of them. It wasn’t some trendy, fancy thing, just authentic and true to us.”
